Meet our Administration Team
Ms. Megan Peterson
Ms. Peterson has spent the last 30 years in education. She began her professional career as a high school English teacher before joining Manteca Unified School District as a high school administrator. As a teacher, Ms. Peterson maintained various responsibilities, including serving as a coach, Activities Director, Accreditation Coordinator, and Department Chair.
During her tenure with MUSD, she served as a Vice Principal for three years and an Assistant Principal for 18 years. Ms. Peterson has been an active member of the District's QISA (Quality Instruction for Student Achievement) team, leading the English Department for nearly 20 years. She has also served on the District Negotiating team and the MUSD Reclassification Committee.
I am incredibly excited to continue to lead the Buffalo Family toward continued success. I look forward to Continuing the work with our outstanding teaching and support staff to create new ways for all kids to grow. At Manteca High, my priority is to ensure students not only achieve academically but can find their place and thrive.
Neil MacDannald, Assistant Principal
Mr. MacDannald has spent the last 24 years in education, bringing extensive experience and dedication to Manteca High School. He began his teaching career in business education before transitioning to teach mathematics for 15 years, covering all levels of math. Over the years, Mr. MacDannald has held various roles, including head varsity baseball coach, varsity offensive coordinator for the football team, and Athletic Director.
Currently serving as Assistant Principal, Mr. MacDannald oversees curriculum, instruction, and assessment, working closely with teachers and students to support academic achievement. He has also held leadership roles as Vice Principal in charge of attendance and discipline, as well as Athletic Director, where he managed Manteca High’s robust and successful athletics program.

Frank Fontana, Vice Principal
Mr. Fontana’s journey in education began as a high school history teacher, where he quickly became a favorite among students for his engaging teaching style and genuine care for their well-being. His transition to administration has been marked by a focus on creating inclusive policies and promoting a culture of respect. His career has been marked by excellence and a willingness to always lend a helping hand and guide our students towards a bright future.

Debi Chavez, Vice Principal
With over 25 years in the field of education, Mrs. Chavez has dedicated her career to fostering a love for learning and supporting student success. She began her journey as an English teacher where she developed a deep appreciation for the impact educators can have on students' lives. Over the years, she’s taken on various roles, including mentor teacher, Peer Resource advisor and trainer, PLUS advisor and trainer, yearbook teacher, freshmen transition coordinator, department chair, and SSC coordinator which has enriched her understanding of the educational landscape.
She is passionate about school climate and campus culture and believes in creating inclusive and engaging environments for all learners. She’s had the privilege of working with diverse student populations and collaborating with dedicated educators to drive positive change within our schools.

Eric Reis, Vice Principal/Athletic Director
Mr. Reis has been in education for over 30 years, with the past 22 years at Manteca High School. He began his teaching career as an Adapted PE teacher with San Joaquin County, then transitioned to Manteca USD teaching Drivers Education, Health and Physical Education.
Mr. Reis is a former MHS grad that had the opportunity to play football collegiately at Cal Poly.
He has coached Tennis and Men’s Volleyball at the high school level. He also coached Football Collegiately and was the Varsity Head Coach at Manteca High for 16 years. During his tenure, the Buffs had the state-longest winning streak at 26 games in a row and won the Section Championship five times. Mr. Reis has served as the Athletic Director for MHS for the past two years.

Stephanie Hjelmstad, Activities Director
Mrs. Hjelmstad has been a teacher at Manteca High for 20 years. She has been the Activity Director for the past 12 years in addition to being an English teacher. She has taught English I, English III, English IV, Speech, Small Learning Community English, Medical English, AVID, and Leadership. Throughout her career, she has served on numerous committees, advised clubs, and been a part of the School Site Council.
As the Activity Director, Mrs. Hjelmstad strives to focus on inclusion of all students, consistently reflects on activities to improve them, and works tirelessly to ensure the MHS student body has a fun-filled, memorable high school experience. She oversees and/or manages campus activities, clubs, advisors, publicity, student recognition, ASB accounts, and MUSD Board representation.
