Mary Ann Tolbert, Department Chair
I am a dedicated and passionate educator at Manteca High School. With over 17 years of teaching experience, I bring a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to the classroom. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Social Studies from Western Governors University, Utah and two Masters Degrees in Educational Leadership and Educational Technology from American College of Education. I am known for innovative teaching methods and the ability to connect with students on a personal level. I believe in fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment where every student can thrive. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy reading, coaching, and spending time with my family.

Justin Coenenberg
Justin Coenenberg is a dedicated educator and coach at Manteca High. He has been an educator for 24 years and currently teaches US History and Sports History. He has also coached boys' and girls' soccer at MHS for a total of 28 seasons.

Jessica Culpepper
For the past eight years, I have been teaching in the social science department at my alma mater. I currently teach US History and AP US History courses on campus. I attended UC Santa Barbara for my undergraduate education, and recently completed my master's degree in psychology from Grand Canyon University. My strengths include fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment which pushes students to think critically about past historical events. As a former buffalo I am proud to be a part of the Manteca High School community. I am inspired everyday by my students' unique qualities and skills.

Matthew Eavenson
My name is Matthew, but my students call me Mr. Eavenson or Mr. E. I am a fourth-generational graduate from Manteca High, and I proudly graduated back in 2016. I got my degree in Social Science from San Diego State University back in 2021. I am glad to be a newer teacher teaching world history and it's been so fun. I'm also a huge Lord of the Rings and Star Wars nerd.

Josh Farris

John Gibson
I am a 1987 graduate of Manteca High. This is my 31st year of teaching and all but one has been at MHS. I have taught all core subjects in the Social Studies department as well as Psychology, AP Psychology, AP Government and AP Microeconomics. Outside of the classroom I have coached basketball (assistant) at the Varsity and Frosh levels as well as track and field (assistant and head coach).

Jordan Rice
I am a passionate educator that sets high expectations for myself and for my students. I graduated from Oral Roberts University with a B.A. in Secondary Education and a minor in History, I have been teaching at Manteca High School since. My goal is for students to gain a complete understanding of how past events connect to present events.

This is my 14th year teaching. I taught 7/8 grade for ten years. The move to MHS has been a great opportunity to teach US History.
